"For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the Most High will keep him from stumbling." (Psalm 21:7)

Meditation: I lean on you, Lord, when my feet stumble on the path that leads me home to you.

"Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts." (Psalm 21:13)

Meditation: All glory and honor and power are yours, Almighty Father, forever and ever.

Here is the 17th excerpt from my book, Rosary Poetry: Poems on the life of Jesus Christ. Enjoy!

The Ascension10

At the Mount of Olives, where He had wept
For Jerusalem who had refused Him,
And shed tears of blood when He was betrayed,
Jesus addressed those He cherished as kin.

He charged His apostles and disciples
To preach His gospel, with all to share it,
Baptizing them in the Trinity's name,
God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

He left them words of advice and comfort:
Despise worldly charms, you will be made new
By the coming of the Spirit in fire.
Be strong for I will always be with you.

They will exorcise demons in His name,
Speak the languages of all listeners,
Heal the infirm and raise the dead to life.
Hell will not stand against the christeners.

Then He blessed them and looked up to heaven.
Amid trumpet blasts and angelic songs,
His body, now glorified and glowing,
Ascended and vanished above the throng.

Seeing them continue to stare upward,
Grieved by His departure and unable
To follow, Our Lord sought to console them,
Get them moving by sending two Angels.

"Men of Galilee, why are you still here?
Go spread the good news of what you have learned.
He will return as you have seen Him leave,
To judge at last if souls have heaven earned."
