Psalms 25 and 26 from my new book:

A NEW LOOK AT THE OLD PSALMS
Praying the Psalms: a modern interpretation

A New Look at the Old Psalms

____________________

I present here a new perspective on the psalms. I have rewritten them from a New
Testament Christ-centered point of view. I did not try to capture the poetry of the
psalms – I leave that to more gifted writers – but I attempted to capture their message
with a more modern interpretation.
God bless,
John

Psalm 25

D
o not let the wicked defeat me, Lord, for those who trust in you will be victorious. I do what is right and treat others honestly. I am hopeful, for I remember your help in the past. Forgive the sins of my youth and be merciful to me. Guide me when I stray and teach me your ways. You respond to those who obey your precepts. Your forgiveness of grave sinners brings you honor. Teach me how to live, for I revere you, Lord. Bless me and my children, for we are your servants. Only you can save me from all my trouble. Have mercy on me before I am completely lost. You know how much I am suffering. I put my trust and hope in you. Save me, Lord! Amen.

Psalm 26

Examine my heart, Lord, and you will find me innocent, for I have followed your commandments. I have always sought to do what is right because I trust in your word. I shun those who do evil. I prefer to boast of your miracles, praise you with songs of thanksgiving, and spend time alone with you in Church where you dwell in glory. Do not count me among sinners. Be merciful to me and save me, and I will publicly proclaim your goodness. Amen.
