"If I were hungry, I would not tell you;

    for the world and all that is in it is mine.
Do I eat the flesh of bulls,
    or drink the blood of goats?
Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
    and pay your vows to the Most high;
and call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me." Psalm 50:12-15 (RSVCE)

Meditation: "That's all that Jesus asks of us; he does not need our works, but only our love; for this same God who declares that he does not need to tell us if he is hungry, has no fear of begging a little water from the Samaritan."^† (St. Thérèse is alluding to the story of the good Samaritan who helped the man injured by robbers who was ignored by a passing priest and a Levite in Luke 10:33. Giving water to a thirsty Jesus (just as the Samaritan helped the injured man) is an act of love and that is all he asks from us.)

"He who brings thanksgiving as his sacrifice honors me;

Madonna in Glory¹

O Lady most pure, who by reason of thy virginal purity didst merit the glory to be so bright and so majestic in thy body after death; obtain for us the strength to detach ourselves from every foul spirit of impurity. Amen<sup>41
